The Nature of Art Gallery is owned by the Mother/Daughter team of Sandra Williams and Kathy Crotts, residents of Snell Isle and Shore Acres respectively.

Sandra Williams has been a wildlife artist on the national scene for many years. In 1996 her daughter, Kathy Leary Crotts, began taking time out from her job as an insurance agent to help her mom with shows. Kathy, who was very interested in art herself, began attending workshops with her mom and painting on her own.

A few years ago, on a trip to Wyoming for an artists' workshop, Sandy and Kathy sat on a mountain top in Jackson Hole, Wyoming and said, "Wouldn't it be wonderful if we could own an art gallery together?". It wasn't long after that fate steered them toward an existing gallery on historic Pass-a-Grille Beach.

Sandy and Kathy bought the gallery in August of 1999. They did some major renovations and added a lot of new inventory. Kathy resigned from her insurance job and The Nature of Art Gallery was born.

For nearly eight years The Nature of Art was located on Historic 8th Avenue in Pass-a-Grille at the south end of St. Pete Beach, FL.  Recently, Sandy and Kathy moved the gallery to beautiful Snell Isle in the NE section of St. Petersburg.  The location is a temporary one, while they wait for their new space to be built on 4th Street N at 11th Avenue.

Sandy and Kathy have strived to make the gallery an eclectic mix of fine art and fun art, a place for local artists to display their creative works of all kinds.  They have gathered all kinds of artwork and fine crafts by artists from around Florida. Unique pottery, glass works, jewelry, copper works and paintings fill the gallery. The mood is enhanced by the sounds of running water from copper fountains and by the music Sandy and Kathy have collected in their travels.

Recently, Sandy and Kathy have expanded their business to include "Adventures in Bradyville - Artsy Gifts for Pets and Their People" a line inspired by Kathy's two rescued Labs, Brady and Maggie.  Items include custom painted dog collars, treat bags, visors, coozies, signs, bandanas, bag savers, and custom engraved pet id tags.  They also have a line of clothing and bags for women in fun cat and dog themed fabrics.  You can see it all on their other website: www.adventuresinbradyville.com

On both sites you will find examples of some of the many works on hand. We hope you enjoy your visit to our websites and that you will come and visit the gallery soon.
